Painting Contractors in Worcester, MA
Residential painting for Worcester's triple-deckers, Victorians, capes and colonials. Interiors, cabinets and trim, with the prep older city housing needs.
Worcester housing, and what it asks of a painter
Worcester is a city of old houses. The three-decker went up here by the thousands in the late 1800s and early 1900s, and they still line the streets of Grafton Hill, Vernon Hill, Main South and Bell Hill. On the West Side and around Elm Park and Tatnuck, the houses are bigger: colonials, Tudors and Victorians with deep porches and detailed trim. Out toward Burncoat and Greendale, there are capes and ranches from the middle of the last century.
Each of those asks something different of a paint job, and none of them is new. That is why the prep matters more here than the paint.

Painting a triple-decker
A three-decker is really three houses stacked up, with three apartments, three sets of stairs and a lot of trim. Painting one often means working around tenants, so we schedule unit by unit and keep each apartment livable at the end of the day, with hallways and stairwells done when they are least in use.
Older homes and lead-safe prep
Much of Worcester's housing was built before 1978, when lead paint was banned for residential use. That paint is often still there under newer coats, on window sashes, trim and porch floors. Scraping and sanding those surfaces is handled with lead-safe prep in mind. We will point out where it is likely at the estimate and explain how it affects the work.
What the winters do
Worcester sits higher than Boston and gets more snow, and the city's hills catch the wind. Freeze and thaw opens joints in wood trim, and ice dams send water into ceilings every spring. Interior painting and drywall repair run all year, and winter is often the easiest time to book.
Residential painting across the city
- Interior painting for apartments, single-family homes and every room in a three-decker.
- Wood painting for trim, railings and millwork, with rot repaired before it is painted.
- Cabinet refinishing for kitchens that work fine but look tired.
- Wood staining where the wood should show its grain.
